To the Mission Bay community:
For a number of years, the City of San Diego has been working towards the finalization of a De Anza Master plan, this includes the current footprint of Bob McEvoy Fields, Pacific Beach Tennis Club and the Mission Bay Golf Course. The future plan for “De Anza Natural” has been released.
Youth Fields turning into Wetlands
- Based on all options for the draft plans, a wetlands buffer zone will be created which will eliminate a significant amount of playing fields that baseball, softball and soccer share.
- Thousands of kids and families enjoy these fields year-round (with no suitable replacement site available).
- Public comments are still open with a potential City Council vote to finalize late summer/early Fall. The results of that vote will become binding and the project will fall within one of the 4 proposed zonings.
Final chance for us to voice our concern
- The De Anza Project has come up periodically over the years, but this is the final proposal and will impact the quality of life for all residents both current and future.
